Credentials
Dr Huang
Shoou Chyuan graduated from the National University of Singapore
in 1984.
He became
a fellow of both the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh ie
FRCS ( Edinburgh) and Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians
of Glasgow ie FRCS (Glasgow) after successfully passing the post-graduate
examinations in 1990.
He had advanced
specialty training at the Singapore General Hospital, completing
it in 1993 and was admitted to the Academy of Medicine, Singapore
as a Fellow in 1995 ie FAMS(ORL).
He is an accredited
Ear Nose Throat Surgeon by the Ministry of Health, Singapore and
is also a Fellow of the International College of Surgeons (FICS)
as well as an International Fellow of the American Academy of
Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (FAAOHNS).

to Excellence
Dr.Huang has
special interests in snoring and sleep apnoea, ear pathologies
including hearing assessment and fitting of hearing aids, treatment
for ear drum perforations and cholesteatoma, sino-nasal pathology
and allergy management.
As Nose Cancer
(Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma) is extremely common in South-east Asia,
he has vast experience in the treatment of this unfortunate condition.
He travels
extensively to learn personally from world renowned ENT surgeons
in their fields of expertise. These ENT centers include those
in the USA, UK, Continental Europe, Australasia as well as many
parts of Asia.
As mankind
progresses, Dr.Huang believes that it must harness new technology
to result in better outcomes for ENT conditions.
Commitment to Community
He is an elected
Specialty Board Member of the Chapter of Otorhinolaryngologists,
College of Surgeons (Academy of Medicine, Singapore) and serves
as the Honorary Secretary. He is also a council member of Singapore's
Society of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Recently
he was invited to be a founding committee member of the World
Chinese Otorhinolaryngology -Head and Neck Surgery Society.
He serves
in the Medical Advisory Board of the Gleneagles Hospital as an
elected member and sits in the Quality Assurance and Infection
& Therapeutic Control committees. He is also a council member
of Gleneagles Medical Centre's Management Corporation Strata Title
Committee.
He is on Medical/Specialist
Advisory Panel of some magazines and is often sought for his views
and opinions about ENT conditions. He gives talks on medical related
topics to laymen, students and doctors alike and had participated
in community events such as pro-bono deafness screening of senior
citizens.

to Positive Thinking and Healthy Living
He is an active
participant in public discussions about all aspects of Singapore
life particularly in issues pertaining to Education, the Medical
Profession, Public governance and Civil society and has been featured
on Television. He contributes regularly to the media's forum pages
and is well known for his out-spoken social and political commentaries
in blogosphere.
Being a firm
believer of lifelong learning, he is currently enrolled in a MBA
program which more or less takes up all his spare time .
He had completed
his second Marathon and plays golf (badly).
