For many situations, after deducting from Medisave, less cash or no cash is needed. Terms and conditions apply. Medisave can be used for patients themselves or for the account holders' immediate family members viz. spouses, parents,grandparents,children and grandchildren. 

Examples of Medisave use in Huang ENT Surgery

A. Patient complains of smelly nose discharge (sinusitis)

2. Nasoendoscopy (Table 1A)

3. Medications

If total fee is S$300, patient theoretically pays 0$ cash because for  Table 1A surgery, CPF allows maximum deduction of up to $550 ( ie $300 for Day-surgery centre fees + $250 ( Table 1A surgery).

B. Patient swallowed a fish bone.

1.Consultation

2.Nasoendoscopy to confirm and localize fish bone (Table 1A)

3.Removal of foreign body mouth/throat (superficial) (Table 1B)

4.Medications

If total fee is S$500, patient theoretically pays 0$ cash because for this situation where there are 2 procedures ( Table 1A surgery and Table 1B surgery), CPF allows maximum deduction of up to $900 ( ie $300 for Day-surgery centre fees + $250 ( Table 1A surgery) + $350 (Table 1B).

3.Otomicroscopy and Myringotomy with ventilation tubes (incl implants-tubes) Table 2A

4.Medications

If total fee is S$900, patient theoretically pays 0$ cash because for  Table 2A surgery, CPF allows maximum deduction of up to $900 ( ie $300 for Day-surgery centre fees + $600 ( Table 2A surgery).

        1.CPF Board makes the final decision about deductions allowed and the amounts vary according to CPF's own guidelines.

        2. Patient pays first and will be reimbursed for the approved Medisave deduction. This is usually within 2 weeks.
